Night Cafe at Atelier Pasadena

The Night Cafe is an important support system within our neighborhood during these times, creating a third space for resistance through joy, conversation, connection, creativity, art, gathering and community. These may feel frivolous in the face of such global horrors but community is unity and there is power within that.

So far Atelier Untamed Night Cafe project has provided space for people to gather, gain comfort & friendship during frightening times. We’ve organized protest, provided space and materials for protest banners. We’ve raised money for community causes and been a space where community can gather educational materials and resources. We’ve been a space of spoken poetry as a form of advocacy, awareness & representation as well as resistance. We’ve offered spiritual counsel. We’ve hosted street vendors doing their own advocacy and education work & also provided a space for food vendors who may have found their platforms restricted. We have clearly planted our values flag & provided a space for others who share those values.
